We were at Lydia’s this past weekend, but the memory of Jane being with us was still strong.
Lydia, Susan, me, Jane and Peg on a celebratory weekend at Lydia’s in Cambridge 2023
Peg, Susan and I spent the weekend at Lydia’s beautiful condo in Cambridge, which overlooks the Choptank River. It has been a special place for us to visit ever since Lydia purchased it. We celebrated several birthdays there, especially the March birthdays of Jane and Lydia. Jane loved being by the water, even though she was not a great swimmer. Lydia actually rescued her when she got into trouble trying to swim to a float in Lower Kimball Pond. Lydia is a fantastic swimmer, luckily.
this past weekend in Cambridge. We all felt Jane’s presence.
Friday night Peg, Lydia and I had a wonderful dinner on the front porch at Legal Assets in Easton before seeing Fran Lebowitz at the Avalon Theater. Fran was interviewed for thirty minutes and then answered audience questions for another 90 minutes. I haven’t laughed that much in ages.
Afterwards we had The Fran Lebowitz Reader autographed and a nice lady took our photograph with Fran. You can see that she looked totally thrilled, which makes me smile, because it fits her personality so well. Jane and I loved watching anything where Fran was interviewed and we especially loved her documentary with her buddy Martin Scorcese, Pretend It’s a City.

Cambridge was one of Jane’s places to fly her kites
When Peg and I left Cambridge on Sunday afternoon we made a stop at Karen and Mark’s in Easton. Karen is the daughter of Jane’s 1st cousin Jerry. She and her husband dog are lovely people and their dog Mini is beautiful and sweet. Jane and I had been in Easton in September 2022 to see their wedding at the Hummingbird Inn. It was a beautiful wedding. Jane and I had a wonderful time walking about Easton and having a few good meals at Legal Assets.
Karen and Mark
The drive back to Falls Church took longer than usual because the traffic was heavy from beach goers. The season seems to have started early this year. I passed the time listening to a book called The Afterlife Frequency.
Author Mark Anthony bridges the divide between faith and science in this fascinating afterlife exploration. I learned a lot about physics and the transfer of energy.
Bittersweet without Jane being there. What a beautiful group of friends for condo companionship.
I said hello to Jane on Thursday. She has a beautiful stone. Mom’s and Dad’s stone’s paperwork has gotten lost along the way, they told us.😞
